Worried that I would be too sick to report to work today, I brought my laptop home yesterday, so you know, I could still work from home, check emails etc today. Well I did manage to get myself to work today, but guess what didnt make it to work with me???? So I was forced to make last minute arrangements to visit a centre near my house so that I can pop back home to fetch my laptop after that. Then it started pouring and I had no brolly. The cab driver took a longer route and cab fare cost at least $2.20 more. He did not drop me off at a covered walkway when he could have and I was too disgusted with the cab fare to redirect him to there, so I had to run for shelter.
Got to the centre with hair and clothes a little wet. Survived walk round the centre without coughing. Asked for warm water to sooth throat when in the centre’s office. Felt very clever coz I made use of the time the supervisor went out of the office to cough to my heart’s content. And then I lost my voice coz phlegm was stuck somewhere in my throat. No choice but to cough splutter gag in an attempt to find voice back.
Supervisor was very very concerned. “Are you unwell? You look very tired.” Couldnt admit to sickness, so just brushed it off as fatigue. Why does it still show on my face!! I put make up already ok!
When I left, supervisor took my hand in hers for a long time. And gave me a hug. Like either one of us is gonna die soon. She of high BP, me of cough.
Visit took unusually long. 5 excruciating hours. Ridiculous to go home to fetch laptop, go back to office to sit for 1 hour and head home again. So I was home for lunch/tea, and stayed home.
The morale of the story is that when you’re sick, dont bring your laptop home. You wont get any work done, and you will forget to bring it back to the office the next day. And sillier things will happen to you the next day when you attempt to fetch your laptop from home.
I do not know the purpose of this entry. Good night.
